I have to admit that I've always carried a penchant for UK bands, I can't help it, the heady days of Brit-Pop in the 90s have left their eternal stamp on my musical soul. It's why I'm always excited and rarely dissapointed when the next breed of musical genii emerge from the cloudy rain soaked skies over there. My case in point is my new favourite band of the week, cue drumroll............ The Horrors... (crowd goes crazy)...

Thankfully St Jeromes Laneway Festival had the bright idea to bring them over this year, so off to their side show I trotted.. and snapped and boogied... and it was nothing short of great.. Their youthful looks and fashionable style belie their musical wisdom and slick playing, as they played the tightest of sets that night.. and sent me home  with thoughts that perhaps the UK is the musical epicentre of the world... but then I remembered Queens of the Stoneage... and the debate roared on in my still ringing ears..
